Dosing & protocols by goal

Rough orientation ranges as reported in harm-reduction literature — not an individual treatment plan. Doses are individual and open-ended; frequency depends on the ester or half-life.

Tendons / ligaments / joints

Regeneration

Dose

250–500 µg / day

Frequency

1–2× / day (subcutaneous, possibly near the affected area)

Cycle length

4–6 weeks

User reports, no robust human studies. Dose in µg, not mg.

Gut health

Regeneration

Dose

250–500 µg / day

Frequency

1–2× / day (oral common)

Cycle length

4–8 weeks

For a gastrointestinal focus, oral administration is often preferred.

Supraphysiological doses carry significant health risks and are not legal without a medical indication. This information serves education and harm reduction, not as a usage recommendation. Accompanying blood work and — where relevant — a post-cycle plan (PCT) are essential. See the disclaimer.

Side effect & countermeasure

Typical problems and what you can do to reduce harm — at a glance. Does not replace medical monitoring.

Problem

Unclear long-term safety in humans

Countermeasure

Dose conservatively, short cycles; clarify medically with pre-existing conditions (especially cancer risk).

Problem

Product quality / purity uncertain on the gray market

Countermeasure

Only vendors with an independent analysis certificate (HPLC/MS); reconstitute sterile and store refrigerated.

Overview

BPC-157 ("Body Protection Compound-157") is a synthetic peptide of 15 amino acids, originally derived from a protein found in gastric juice. In the biohacking and rehab scene, it is discussed mainly in connection with tendon, ligament and gut problems.

Mechanism of Action

Preclinical studies (predominantly animal and cell models) point to angiogenic effects (promotion of new blood-vessel formation) as well as possible modulation of growth factors involved in tissue regeneration. Controlled clinical studies in humans are still largely lacking — a large part of the circulating efficacy claims rests on animal models, anecdotal reports and a young field of research.

Typical Context

BPC-157 is discussed mainly as an accompanying measure for tendon/ligament irritation, joint complaints, or general recovery support after intense training. Important to note: the evidence in humans is thin, and many claims are based on user experience rather than randomized studies.

Side Effects & Risks

  • The data on long-term safety in humans is insufficient
  • Local irritation at the injection site possible
  • No standardized quality control on the gray market — purity and actual active content of available products often cannot be reliably verified
  • Interactions with other medications are barely studied

Blood Work & Monitoring

There are no established, BPC-157-specific lab parameters for efficacy or safety monitoring. A general baseline blood panel before and during use makes sense, especially inflammatory markers (CRP) when used in a recovery context, along with medical consultation for existing conditions.

Harm-Reduction Notes

  • Product quality is the biggest practical risk: consider only vendors with independent analysis certificates (HPLC/MS)
  • Correct reconstitution with bacteriostatic water and sterile handling are essential (see peptide reconstitution calculator)
  • Maintain cold-chain storage after reconstitution, limited shelf life
  • With existing cancers or cancer risk, seek medical clarification, as angiogenic effects could theoretically be relevant

Legal status by region

Regulation differs considerably between jurisdictions and changes over time. This is a rough orientation, not legal advice — check the rules that apply where you are.

RegionRegulatory status
United StatesNot approved for human useSold as a research chemical; marketing for human consumption is unlawful.
EU / UKNo marketing authorisationNeither a medicine nor a supplement — no legal route for human use.
Most other jurisdictionsUnregulated grey areaPossession is legal in many places precisely because no framework covers it. That is not an indication of safety.
